Description
Saint Haralambos was born in Magnesia of Asia Minor when Septimius Severus was emperor of Rome. When Severus started a persecution against the Christians, the priest Charalambos was arrested by the prefect Lucian and subjected to horrible tortures. Lucian tried to kill the Saint with his sword but his hand was cut off and hung on Charalambos’ body. The Saint prayed for the hand of the prefect to return to its place, as it was done, with the result that his executioners believed in God.
Lucian was so enraged that he ordered the beheading of the Saint. The Saint surrendered his soul to the Lord at the age of 113. Most of the Skull of Saint Haralambos is located in the Monastery of Saint Stephen in Meteora. The Orthodox Christian Church celebrates his memory on February 10 of each year.
