Saint Paul, originally a fierce persecutor of Christians, converted after a divine encounter with Christ. As the Apostle of the Nations, he played a vital role in spreading Christianity and is recognized as the founder of the Church of Greece. He was martyred in Rome between 64–67 AD by beheading.
This icon is a tribute to their spiritual mission and sacrifice. The Orthodox Church commemorates Saints Peter and Paul on June 29 each year.
