Handmade Greek Orthodox Icon of Saint Ephraim of Katounakia – Byzantine Christian Wall Art (14x20cm / 5.5″x7.9″)
This handmade Greek Orthodox icon honors Saint Ephraim of Katounakia, one of the most beloved modern elders of Mount Athos. Crafted in the traditional Byzantine style, this sacred image is perfect for Orthodox Christian homes, icon corners, and gift-giving.
Born in 1912 in Boeotia, Greece, Saint Ephraim (born Evangelos Papanikitas) was drawn to monastic life from a young age. In 1933, he entered the monastic brotherhood in Katounakia, Mount Athos, and became a monk in 1935 with the blessing of Elder Nikiforos. He later met Elder Joseph the Hesychast, whose influence deeply shaped his spiritual journey.
Known for his gift of foresight and spiritual discernment, Saint Ephraim provided guidance to many, especially young couples seeking help in their family lives. After a life of asceticism, wisdom, and prayer, he reposed on February 27, 1998. In 2020, he was officially canonized as a saint by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
🕊 Commemorated annually on February 27 by the Orthodox Church.
